This is a small private facility that caters to families and children with special needs, 3-12 years of age. We have a gym for fun filled activities along with a large classroom that is center based with monthly themes. Our main focus is to allow these children to learn in a loving, fun filled environment that targets all of the necessary areas of development. Crucial areas of development to consider are communication, creativity, cognitive, physical development, and social and emotional interactions. Some of these skills come easier than others but they are all just as important. We believe it is also pertinent to get to know each child and family in order to accurately design a program that will allow your child to succeed. Children learn best through play; therefore, we are constantly building skills through games and activities. The children will inadvertently learn routines, independence, and following directions through repetition and positive reinforcement. We enjoy spending time on feeding and self-help skills that some children with special needs lack, but again, these skills are just as vital. Throughout the day and throughout our centers we have communication devices that help non-verbal children express themselves appropriately. We are creating a smaller world to help prepare your children for the bigger world.
We are a very family friendly center especially since our director is a mom of a special needs child too. She understands the importance in family, teachers, and therapists working as a team. Parents are the real teachers who children learn best from but it is hard for one person to do it all by themselves. Therefore, we encourage parents to volunteer at Abi's Place; we also strongly suggest for parents to schedule time to shadow the teachers and therapists to help carry over the goals at home. This team approach helps the children progress faster. We are here for the children and we all work together to reach the children's goals.
Registration will include an evaluation, an annual goal meeting with parents and staff, and paperwork necessary for the Florida Department of Education.

Our Mission
Our mission is to provide a safe, stimulating learning environment to medically-fragile children with moderate to severe developmental delays. Teachers, therapists, and parents collaborate to develop a personalized education plan to accommodate each child's documented needs in the following areas: language, fine motor, gross motor, social interaction, and self help skills. Each goal is addressed using research-based instructional strategies, proper equipment, and assistive technology. We pride ourselves on fostering unique social interactions, allowing children with special needs to thrive.
